Lauren Hawkins, MA, LIMHP, LPC

To even consider a therapeutic relationship is an act of courage. Lauren’s deepest desire is to create safe, welcoming spaces where authentic thoughts and feelings can be explored with honesty and compassion. She believes our personal stories carry both our greatest joys and deepest sorrows — and within them lies the truth of who we are and where we can go. Lauren walks alongside clients as they unpack the past, discover meaning in their present, and shape a more hopeful, sustaining future.

The courage clients bring into the room is something Lauren both honors and protects. She views counseling as a beautiful risk — one that deserves to be held with respect, curiosity, and care. In session, she will challenge you, sit with you in tension, and help you move toward freedom and growth. Lauren holds to the belief that hope is feisty — it fights for us even when we cannot see it.

Lauren earned her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Doane University, where she built a strong foundation of clinical skill and self-awareness. Her therapeutic approach integrates attachment theory, emotion-focused therapy, family systems, and story work, allowing her to tailor care uniquely to each individual. Lauren’s licensed therapy dog, Indy, often joins sessions upon request, offering gentle presence and comfort.

Faith is a steady thread in Lauren’s work and worldview. She believes that true healing involves not only the mind and body, but also the soul. In her practice, faith is not imposed — it is invited. For those who wish, Lauren weaves spiritual integration into therapy as a means of reconnecting with purpose, grace, and identity. She holds space for the mystery of both pain and redemption, believing that transformation often begins in the places we most want to avoid. Lauren sees counseling as sacred work — an intersection of humanity and hope where restoration becomes possible.

Before becoming a counselor, Lauren gained experience in college ministry, nonprofit leadership, and women-led organizations, all of which shaped her belief in the transformative power of safe, authentic connection.

Outside of the counseling office, Lauren treasures time with her husband, two children, and two pups. She loves traveling abroad, taking long walks, and playing unapologetically competitive games of cribbage. More than anything, Lauren values who she is with far more than what she is doing.

Lauren accepts self-pay, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Medica, Midlands Choice, and United Healthcare/UMR/Optum.
